Polish people buy second-hand clothing

The global market for second-hand clothing will grow on average three times faster than the entire global clothing market. Poles have also picked up on this trend. As many as 23 percent of respondents bought a second-hand product in the last 12 months. In 2022, the second-hand clothing market recorded a growth of 28 percent, reaching a result of $177 billion in global sales, according to the latest ThredUp report.
Why such a large increase? The authors of the report explain the industry's growth with inflation, a greater number of people selling clothes, retailers expanding their second-hand offerings, as well as increased awareness of sustainable shopping habits. The report predicts that the second-hand industry will double its value to $351 billion in global sales by 2027.
Meanwhile, by 2024, 10 percent of the global clothing market will be made up of used clothing, according to the report.
