Study: more than half of Poles indicate problems with public transport in suburbs

A new wave of transport exclusion is affecting Poland’s suburbs as more people move to the outskirts of cities in search of cheaper housing. A PBS survey for Multiconsult Polska found that over 50% of Poles view transportation—both road and public—as their area’s biggest challenge. With housing prices up 110% in the past decade, suburban developments often lack proper roads or public transit. As a result, residents rely heavily on cars.
Respondents called for better local roads (69%) and public transport (51%). Experts warn that without urgent investment and proper mobility planning, the issue will worsen. Sustainable urban mobility plans and EU funding may help address this growing problem in both rural and suburban areas.
