In January 2024, sales in small format stores under 300 sqm increased by 1.3% compared to the previous year, while transactions decreased by nearly 8%. Compared to December 2023, turnover dropped by 12%, and transactions decreased by 4%. This decline is attributed to fewer visits to stores and a decrease in the total number of items sold, primarily due to a reduction in the number of stores. However, the average receipt value rose by 10%, mainly because of an increase in the average number of products per receipt.
Small format stores include small, medium, and large grocery stores, as well as specialized alcohol stores.
