In the first quarter of this year, the Ukrainians left PLN 453 million in the wallets of entrepreneurs in Poland. This is three times less than a year ago when the expenditure amounted to PLN 1.48 billion, according to the latest data of the Central Statistical Office. Such a large decrease is the result of the ongoing pandemic and the resulting difficulties at the borders. Personnel Service experts indicate that we should see an increase in expenses in the coming quarters, which will be largely the result of a low base. We will not come close to the level of expenses recorded before the pandemic when in 2019 Ukrainians spent almost PLN 7.8 billion in Poland. In the pandemic 2020, these expenses dropped to PLN 2.6 billion and this year they will probably oscillate around this amount.
The latest report of the Central Statistical Office shows that in the first quarter of this year. foreigners crossed the Polish border 20 million times, which is 42.3 percent less compared to the previous year. The decline is largely the result of the ongoing pandemic – a year ago, restrictions related to border traffic did not start until the end of March. Currently, border traffic is still limited.
