In May 2024, Poland's unemployment rate reached a historically low 5%, down by 0.1 percentage points from the previous year, with 777,000 people registered as unemployed, a decrease of 26,000 y/y. Over 56,000 individuals found jobs during this period. Marcin Klucznik from the Polish Economic Institute suggests a potential slight decrease in unemployment over the summer, followed by a seasonal increase in winter. Despite the low unemployment rate, demand for new workers remains constrained, primarily growing in service sectors while slightly declining in industry. Klucznik forecasts unemployment to fluctuate around 5% in the third quarter, potentially dropping below.
The European Commission also expects Poland's unemployment rate, measured by Eurostat, to decrease marginally from 3.0% to 2.9% by 2025, remaining among Europe's lowest.
