The US is considering imposing sanctions on Poland for adopting an amendment to the media law, reports RMF FM. Warsaw is not to be invited to the summit of world democracies organized by Joe Biden in December. It is also allowed to block the purchase of Abrams tanks by Poland. There is even an atomic option, which is to be used as a last resort. It provides for the imposition of personal sanctions on President Andrzej Duda, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and PiS president Jarosław Kaczyński. They would be banned from entering the United States. As a consequence, Duda would not visit his American counterpart in Washington until the end of his term of office.

In the United States, Poland received the adoption of the amendment to the media law, referred to by the media as lex TVN, with great irritation, and the US administration is considering the application of sanctions, RMF reports, citing its sources. For the United States, it is not only a hit against American investment in Poland but also against Polish democracy.

As RMF reminds, many politicians in the US government are directly and personally interested in the situation in Poland, for example, Secretary of State Antony Blinken was involved in the process of Poland's accession to NATO, and his stepfather was a Polish Jew from Białystok. Thus, politicians like him treat the development of events in Poland very personally.

Lex TVN is not the only issue about which Americans have a grudge against the Polish government. They also reproach Poland with the amendment to the Administrative Procedure Code, which is related to re-privatization and was also adopted on Wednesday (August 11).
