Warsaw partners with Denmark on waste heat recovery project

The city of Warsaw has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Denmark to explore the feasibility of recovering waste heat from the Warsaw Metro system. The project, which is being supported by the Danish government's Green Accelerator Program, could provide heating and hot water for up to 275,000 people in Warsaw.
The MoU was signed by the City of Warsaw, Warsaw Metro, the Royal Danish Embassy in Poland, Danfoss, and Rambøll Group in the presence of His Majesty King Frederik X of Denmark.
"This partnership is a significant step forward in our efforts to make Warsaw a more sustainable city," Mayor of Warsaw Rafał Trzaskowski, said.
"By recovering waste heat from the metro, we can reduce our reliance on fossil fuels and cut our carbon emissions,” he added.
