Controls at German/Polish border extended until April 2026, concerning entrepreneurs

Poland’s Ministry of Interior announced that border controls with Germany and Lithuania will be extended at least until April 2026. While entrepreneurs recognize the efficiency of border services, they fear long-term economic consequences. So far, checks have not paralyzed traffic, though occasional bottlenecks occurred. Business groups stress that prolonged controls may discourage investors and negatively impact trade, logistics, and services.
The real test will be late 2025, during Black Friday and the holiday season, when cross-border transport peaks. Carriers warn that combined Polish and German checks could cause delays. Industry representatives call for continuous monitoring of the economic effects and close cooperation with Germany to minimize disruption.
