Chinese cars changing balance of automotive market in Poland
Chinese car brands are rapidly strengthening their position in Poland, driven mainly by lower prices and large-scale production. According to a report by the European Leasing Fund (EFL), the average price of a new Chinese car in Poland in the first three quarters of 2025 was about PLN 137,000 – around PLN 50,000 less than the market average. Registrations have surged, with Chinese brands reaching a 10% share of new passenger car registrations in October 2025, and models such as MG HS ranking among the most popular.
Growth is strongest among private buyers, while businesses remain more cautious. Despite EU import tariffs, Chinese manufacturers often absorb the costs, leveraging overcapacity, long warranties, and rich standard equipment. This expansion poses a serious competitive challenge to European automakers.
