In the first half of 2024, 219 companies declared bankruptcy, and 2,261 restructuring proceedings were initiated, according to a report by the National Debt Register (KRD). Bankruptcies primarily involved corporate entities, while sole proprietorships were more likely to undergo restructuring. The rise in insolvencies is attributed to economic challenges from 2021-2022, including high energy costs, rising interest rates, and inflation.

The majority of bankrupt companies were in the manufacturing, trade, and real estate sectors. Companies in Mazovia had the highest debts. Restructuring left behind PLN 108.1 million in unpaid obligations, with the most affected creditors being in construction, energy, and fuel industries.
