mBank expects its credit risk cost to be around 60 basis points (bp) for 2024, down from previous years. Vice President Marek Lusztyn attributes this forecast to strong results in the first half of 2024, with credit risk costs at 17 bp in Q1 and 58 bp in Q2. The decrease is due to robust performance in the corporate segment and normalization in retail credit risk.
For 2025 and beyond, mBank anticipates a return to its strategic goal of 70-80 bp, reflecting potential economic challenges in Europe. mBank, a leading Polish commercial bank and part of the WIG20 index, is majority-owned by Commerzbank.
