IFC aims to allocate $1 bln annually for innovation in Poland

The International Finance Corporation (IFC), part of the World Bank Group, mobilized $965 million for investments in Poland in one year and plans to maintain annual commitments close to $1 billion. According to Ines Rocha, IFC’s regional head, Poland shows strong innovation potential, particularly in battery technologies, healthcare, digitalization, and green transformation, but still faces private capital shortages. IFC invests in renewable energy, industrial decarbonization, and supports private equity and venture capital to retain Polish innovators locally.
Projects include backing R.Power in renewable energy, Ingenix in AI-driven drug discovery, and green steel initiatives. Significant funds also go into the financial sector to expand SME, green, and women-led business financing, including investments in VeloBank, EOS, and CVI.
