By the end of 2023, approximately 1.4 million employees in Poland were earning wages below the minimum wage, as reported by the Central Statistical Office (GUS). The highest concentration of minimum wage earners was in the trade and vehicle repair sector, with 339,400 individuals affected.
In December 2022, 402,100 workers in national economy entities with 10 or more employees received salaries equal to or below the minimum wage. In 2023, 11.9% of all employees in the national economy earned below this threshold. The sectors with the highest percentages of low-wage earners included accommodation and food services (37%), construction (30.6%), and administrative activities (21.4%).
