IMF sees inflation in Poland at 7.4% in 2023

According to the new projections by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), inflation in Poland is expected to approach the National Bank of Poland's inflation target only by the end of 2026. The IMF anticipates a slightly higher inflation rate compared to the forecasts from earlier this year. The consumer price inflation in Poland is projected to slow down to 7.4% year-on-year by the end of 2023, while recent data from the Central Statistical Office (GUS) indicates an inflation rate of 8.2% in September.
The IMF forecasts a CPI rate of 5.5% at the end of 2024 and 4% by the end of 2025. The crucial aspect of the IMF's forecast is when inflation will reach the NBP's target, expected by the end of 2026 at 3.3%. The projections indicate higher short-term inflation in Poland than previously estimated in March, with average CPI expected to be 12%, 6.4%, 4.5%, 3.6%, 2.9%, and 2.5% for the years 2023-2028.
