According to the Long-Term Strategy for Renovation of Buildings, which the government adopted earlier this year, of the 14.2 million buildings in Poland, up to 70 percent do not meet energy efficiency standards, and a large part of them do not even have thermal insulation and require deep thermal modernization. Such an investment, however, often exceeds the financial capacity of individual investors, cooperatives, communities, and even local governments. These entities can apply for support from the Bank of the National Economy, which offers subsidies for thermal modernization and installation of RES sources as part of the Thermomodernization and Renovation Fund premium.

"Financial support under the Thermomodernization and Renovation Fund is in constant demand. Under this instrument, which has been in operation for 20 years, BGK has already granted nearly 50,000 bonuses for a total amount of up to PLN 3 billion, thereby contributing to improving the energy efficiency and technical condition of renovated residential buildings. Each such investment also means reducing smog and improving the aesthetics of the surroundings," Magdalena Czerska, director of the Office of the Thermomodernization and Renovation Fund at Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego, said.
