PGE Group is set to construct Europe’s largest energy storage facility, with a capacity of up to 263 MW and a minimum of 900 MWh, near the Żarnowiec Pumped-Storage Power Plant. The project, expected to be tendered in mid-2024, aims to support the balancing of PGE's land and offshore wind farms on the Baltic Sea.
Funded by the National Recovery Plan, the storage facility will enhance the stability of the National Power System during the energy transition and provide a stable revenue source for PGE. This groundbreaking project will establish the largest battery energy storage in Europe, contributing significantly to the region’s energy infrastructure
