President Duda vetoes act reducing health insurance contributions for entrepreneurs

President Andrzej Duda has vetoed a bill to reduce health insurance contributions for entrepreneurs, citing serious concerns about social justice and constitutional compliance. Presidential Chancellery Head Małgorzata Paprocka explained that the law lacked any public consultation, which she called unacceptable in a democratic legal state.
The proposed reform, passed in April by KO, Poland 2050-TD, and PSL-TD, aimed to benefit 2.5 million entrepreneurs and reduce state revenue by PLN 4.6 billion. Critics, including medical organizations and left-wing politicians, argued it would worsen healthcare funding and deepen reliance on the state budget. Prime Minister Donald Tusk criticized the veto, linking it to the final months of Duda's presidency.
