Ukraine and the U.S. Sign Agreement on Critical Minerals

On May 1, 2025, Ukraine and the United States signed a strategic agreement to cooperate on critical mineral resources, including rare earths, lithium, and titanium. The deal, signed during the International Critical Raw Materials Summit in Kyiv, is expected to support Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction and reduce Europe's dependence on Chinese supplies.
The partnership focuses on mapping and developing Ukraine’s mineral potential, attracting private investment, and improving access to U.S. and EU markets. It also aims to align Ukraine’s regulatory framework with European standards.
According to Ukraine’s Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, this cooperation will not only help rebuild the economy but also integrate Ukraine into global supply chains. The agreement complements Ukraine’s existing memorandum with the European Union on raw materials, positioning the country as a key player in future green and digital transitions. The U.S. will also provide technical assistance and investment support.
