Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that the government could mobilize up to 23 billion PLN for flood relief and recovery efforts, including European funds. He introduced a "flood emergency law" comprising numerous amendments aimed at enhancing existing regulations. The law focuses on supporting borrowers, streamlining procedures for flood damage assessments, and providing additional benefits.
Preliminary estimates indicate that damages from the September flood could reach about 1% of Poland's GDP. The government plans to meet again on Saturday to discuss budget adjustments related to the flood situation. The proposed law also includes provisions for education support and environmental decision-making simplifications to aid individuals and businesses affected by the flooding.
