One of the leaders of the Confederation, Deputy Speaker of the Sejm Krzysztof Bosak, met with protesting farmers in Pruszcz Gdański. Bosak emphasized that he was here to "support protesting farmers" and "show support for them as the National Movement and Confederation." He stressed that it is necessary to "move away from the Green Deal, which destroys agricultural conditions and production and increases the costs of agriculture." In his opinion, "the EU regulation on opening the market to production from Ukraine should also be abandoned."
Farmers highlighted concerns about competition from Russia and Belarus and urged for protection of Polish agriculture. They reject unrestrained influx of agricultural products from Ukraine and Russia. They stress the apolitical nature of agriculture and its significance for national security.
The EU's recent proposals, including changes to the Green Deal and increased tariffs on imports from Russia and Belarus, reflect ongoing debates surrounding agricultural policy.
