Chinese cargo planes land at Katowice airport for the first time in history

On October 21, 2025, a Boeing 777F from China’s Central Airlines landed for the first time at Katowice Airport, marking a milestone in Polish air cargo. The aircraft, operating five times a week, serves Chinese e-commerce platforms such as Temu and Shein, handling up to 400 tons of freight weekly. According to GTL SA CEO Artur Tomasik, this partnership will keep logistics revenue in Poland and strengthen Katowice’s position as a gateway for Chinese carriers in Europe.
In 2025, Katowice Airport expects a record 45,000 tons of cargo, supported by a new 10,000 m² terminal planned for 2027. Tomasik emphasized that Poland can compete with German airports, citing efficient customs, shorter flight times, and growing Chinese investment interest.
