Forward Business Cycle indicator points to prolonged stagnation

The Leading Economic Indicator (LEI), which forecasts future economic trends, increased by 0.6 points to 155.4 points in August in Poland, according to the Bureau for Investment and Economic Cycles (BIEC). The BIEC noted that the indicator has been stagnating near the bottom of the cycle for eight consecutive months, and there are currently no signs of a change in the existing trend. The economy has significantly slowed down, approaching recession, amid persistent high inflation.
This has curbed consumer demand, previously a major growth driver, while investments are declining, impacting competitiveness and foreign orders. Among the LEI's components, two improved, four worsened, and two remained unchanged in August.
