Investigations underway after explosion in Przewodów; Poland is safe - Horała

Deputy Minister of Funds and Regional Policy Marcin Horała said investigations were underway after two people were killed in the explosion in Przewodow, a village near the Ukrainian border. The explosion came amid widespread Russian missile strikes on Ukraine on Tuesday.
President Andrzej Duda said on Wednesday morning, it was unclear who launched the missile, but that it was most likely Russian-made. US officials, however, say the rocket may have been Ukrainian anti-aircraft missile fired at Russian missile. Russia condemned as a "provocation" initial reports that it had fired the missile into Poland.
Horała said Poland waits for “indisputable findings” to take the official position. “It could have been a Russian missile, as well as a Ukrainian air defense missile that accidentally fell on Polish territory,” he said. “There is no threat to Poland at the moment," the deputy minister assured.
After the first reports of an explosion late Tuesday, the zloty weakened versus the euro and dollar, but on Wednesday the national currency regained ground. Bartosz Sawicki, an analyst at Cinkciarz.pl, told money.pl that the situation reminds investors of the risks for the zloty and domestic bonds associated with the ongoing war in Ukraine.
