More students in Poland putting pressure on private student housing sector

Poland now has over 1.28 million students, with a y/y increase of nearly 35,000, driven partly by a growing number of international students—mostly from Ukraine and Belarus. Most students (58.2%) are women, and 62.8% study full-time. Popular majors include business, law, social sciences, and medicine. However, the student housing market is under pressure. Public dorms remain insufficient, often with 4–5 applicants per spot, pushing many students toward the private rental market, which drives up prices.
Although private dormitories are growing in major cities, high costs limit accessibility. Experts stress the need for systemic investment in affordable student housing to meet rising demand. Without it, housing shortages and rent hikes in academic cities are likely to intensify.
