The 10th term of the Sejm is breaking records of popularity online. Even the US Congress does not have as many views on YouTube as the verbal clashes between Szymon Hołownia and PiS politicians generate.
"We'll soon have to sell parliamentary gadgets," the MPs joked.
When the Sejm is in session, Poles turn on YouTube and start following the brawls and bonmots of Szymon Hołownia. According to Business Insider, the videos published on the Sejm's official channel in November generated 7 million views. Of this, 6.5 million are live coverage of the sessions.
No Western parliament can match these numbers. When the British Prime Minister answers questions from MPs, he can gather 450,000 viewers on YouTube. For Szymon Hołownia, gathering an audience of over a million in a much smaller country is no problem.
