Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego (BGK) will lend PLN 10.8 billion at a preferential 0.5% rate to Poland’s transmission system operator PSE for building over 5,000 km of new high-voltage power lines. The loan, supported by the Energy Support Fund created in 2024 using EU Recovery Plan funds, was signed in the presence of Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

This investment aims to modernize the energy grid, strengthen energy security, and support Poland’s green energy transition. The government is also preparing a regulatory package to prevent blackouts, focusing on improving grid integration, managing surplus energy, enhancing cyber and physical resilience, and aligning legal frameworks with technical needs—especially as distributed solar power from prosumers increasingly affects the national grid's stability.
