Study: Poles afraid some food will become difficult to access in a decade

Poland’s food security is under growing threat, with 70% of citizens fearing that essential food products may become scarce or unaffordable within the next decade, according to a 2025 report by the Food Strategy Institute "Grunt". Rising prices, limited access to local food, and shrinking variety affect even urban and wealthier groups.
A parallel analysis by Bank Pekao SA highlights global risks like climate change, war, and protectionism disrupting supply chains and increasing the need for domestic food self-sufficiency. Respondents demand stronger state support for local farmers, lower prices for quality food, and anti-waste policies. Experts call for a National Food Policy that integrates agriculture, health, and education, supported by infrastructure investment and improved coordination to ensure affordable, resilient food systems.
