There are nearly a thousand Russian-owned companies in Poland, according to data from the Central Economic Information Center. Russian foreign direct investments in Poland are worth approx. PLN 1.1 billion. The Polish government does not move them and does not freeze them, because it wants to confiscate Russian assets and believes that changes to the constitution are necessary for this.
The process of freezing the assets of Russian oligarchs and politicians has been going on all over the world since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. According to analysts from the Polish Economic Institute, there are 862 people in the European Union and 446 people in the USA. Yachts and real estate are confiscated. Poland has still not decided to impose such repressions.
Poland would like to confiscate the property of Russian oligarchs and Polish private entities "involved in supporting Russia's actions". The government also wants to tax Polish companies that have not withdrawn from the local market.
The funds obtained in this way would be used to help those injured as a result of the war in Ukraine.
