Poland Plans to Allocate Around 5 Percent of GDP to Defense in 2026

Poland’s defense spending is expected to reach approximately 5 percent of GDP in 2026, State Secretary at the Ministry of National Defense Cezary Tomczyk announced on Radio Zet. “That’s roughly one-fourth of total state expenditures,” he noted.
The 2025 budget already earmarks 4.7 percent of GDP for defense, reflecting the government’s continued focus on strengthening military capabilities amid heightened regional security concerns. The increased allocation positions Poland among the highest defense spenders in NATO, both in absolute terms and as a share of GDP.
