Tusk rules out tax hike

Prime Minister Donald Tusk has indicated that raising Poland’s tax-free allowance to PLN 60,000 is unlikely before 2027. Speaking on TVN24’s Fakty po Faktach, he said the government is still working on the project but will not introduce changes in 2026.
Tusk pointed to high defense spending as a key obstacle, noting that Poland allocates about 5% of its budget to armaments, among the highest rates in Europe. “We face a real threat, and spending on the Polish army and national security is much more than expected,” he said.
On inflation, Tusk predicted a steady decline, expecting July figures to fall to around 3%, down from 4.1% in June, and possibly enter the “high twos” in August. “The era of rapid price hikes is over,” he added, while awaiting official data from the Central Statistical Office.
