Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk warned against a trade war with the U.S., calling it a "senseless conflict" and a paradox between close allies. Speaking in Brussels, he urged European unity and solidarity, stressing that the EU must maintain strong relations with the U.S. while asserting its own strength and dignity.
Tusk also emphasized the need for European funding for Poland’s Eastern Shield to strengthen border security, with €100 million already allocated. Discussions also covered military support for Ukraine and closer UK-EU defense cooperation post-Brexit.
Regarding U.S. tariffs, Tusk opposed restrictions on purchasing American weapons with EU funds, arguing that European security should remain the top priority. He called for strengthened transatlantic defense ties with the U.S., Canada, the UK, and Norway.
