Warsaw Stock Exchange sees decline in trading volume in January

The Warsaw Stock Exchange (WSE) experienced a decline in trading volume in January 2024, with the total value of equity turnover on the Main Market falling by 14.5 percent y/y to PLN 24.0 billion. The value of equity turnover on the order book decreased by 10.1 percent y/y to PLN 23.8 billion. The average daily value of equity turnover on the order book was PLN 1.08 billion, down 14.2 percent y/y.

Despite the decline in trading volume, the WIG index ended January at 77,416.31 points, up 26.3 percent y/y.

The NewConnect market also saw a decline in trading volume in January, with the total value of equity turnover falling by 33.1 percent y/y to PLN 151.9 million. The value of equity turnover on the order book on the NewConnect market fell by 33.5 percent y/y to PLN 150.7 million.

On the GlobalConnect market, the value of equity turnover in January was PLN 1.1 million, compared to PLN 0.7 million in the same period last year.
