Women still underrepresented on the boards of the largest companies at WSE

Despite making up half the population, women remain underrepresented in leadership roles at top companies. On Poland’s Warsaw Stock Exchange, women hold only 18.4% of executive positions—up just 0.4 percentage points in 2024. Barriers such as cultural norms and sector-specific biases persist, despite high professional engagement among Polish women.
EU efforts include the “Women on Boards” directive, requiring companies to reach at least 40% representation of the underrepresented gender in non-executive director roles by June 2026. Experts stress that companies must foster inclusive environments and involve women in decision-making. Positive examples include Totalizator Sportowy and Brown-Forman’s leadership programs supporting women’s development and career advancement.
