ArcelorMittal Poland will close Huta Królewska in December ‘25
ArcelorMittal Poland will permanently shut down the Huta Królewska steel plant in Chorzów in December 2025. The company cites falling orders, rising costs, and declining workplace safety as the main reasons. Although the plant produces specialized mining profiles and railway components, it accounts for less than 1 percent of the group’s total output. ArcelorMittal plans to relocate about 270 employees to other facilities or find alternative solutions. Management stresses that aging equipment would require major investments that are not financially justified amid Europe’s weakened steel market.
Huta Królewska, whose history dates back to 1802, will have its production transferred to other rolling mills within the group. Union representatives note continued demand, but the company argues that volumes keep shrinking.
