Rebuilding Ukraine with Poland’s help depends on regulation
Poland will co-host an international Ukraine recovery conference in Gdańsk in June, aiming to position itself as a key partner in rebuilding war damage. Polish officials are already discussing participation of domestic firms in major projects. Reconstruction may cost hundreds of bln euros, but success depends on Ukrainian legal reforms, stronger bilateral relations, and government-backed financial tools such as guarantees and funding.
Experts stress that foreign investment requires transparent, EU-aligned regulations and an efficient judiciary. Polish companies already operate in Ukraine and could expand further, especially after market liberalization. However, political tensions and unresolved historical issues may hinder cooperation. Both sides highlight the need for closer strategic alignment, improved public perception, and joint economic initiatives to fully unlock reconstruction opportunities.
