Bogucki: president vetoed bill on energy deregulation

Polish President Karol Nawrocki on Monday vetoed the Energy Deregulation Act, his third veto that day. The bill would have raised the licensing threshold for renewable energy installations from 1 MW to 5 MW, and for photovoltaic projects requiring a building permit from 150 to 500 kW, provided they served only self-consumption and were outside protected nature areas. Presidential Chancellery head Zbigniew Bogucki argued the law risked “arbitrariness” and weakened state oversight. The act also sought to simplify household electricity bills, expand cable pooling to all renewable sources and storage, and delay capacity fee announcements.
Earlier, Nawrocki vetoed bills easing tax penalties and extending benefits to Ukrainians not working in Poland.
