GUS: consumer sentiment improved in August

In August, Poland recorded an improvement in both current and future consumer sentiment compared to July, according to the Central Statistical Office (GUS). The Current Consumer Confidence Index (BWUK), which reflects present individual consumption trends, stood at -12.1, up 1.9 points from the previous month and 3.8 points higher y/y. Meanwhile, the Leading Consumer Confidence Index (WWUK), indicating expectations for the coming months, rose by 1.4 points to -6.3, marking a 4.0-point increase y/y.
These results suggest that Polish consumers are more optimistic about both their current situation and near-term outlook than a year ago, signaling a gradual recovery in confidence and potential support for consumption growth.
