Vinci, an investment arm of Poland’s BGK, has invested over PLN 40 million in Iceye, a Polish-Finnish leader in satellite-based Earth observation, and may increase its stake. Iceye, founded in 2014, has grown from a start-up into a global firm valued at over USD 1 billion, with 54 satellites in orbit and plans to launch 20 annually. Its SAR satellite data supports defense, crisis management, and agriculture.

Last year, Iceye raised more than USD 150 million from investors and now employs 700 people worldwide, with its Polish unit hosting a global operations hub. Vinci’s entry marks BGK’s strategic push into New Space, tapping into a market expanding by USD 2 billion annually.
