At the end of July 2024, 1.041 million foreigners were employed in Poland, representing 6.8% of the country’s workforce, according to the Central Statistical Office (GUS). Workers hailed from over 150 countries, with Ukrainians forming the largest group at 701,300. However, their share among foreign workers dropped by six percentage points compared to January 2022.
Most foreign workers were men, though their share declined from 64.7% in January 2022 to 59.7% by July 2024. Contracts of mandate and similar agreements accounted for 405,400 foreign employees.
Regional data showed nearly 20% of all employed foreigners lived in the Warsaw area, while less than 1% resided in the Świętokrzyskie region. These findings underscore Poland’s growing reliance on foreign labor, especially from neighboring Ukraine.
