EC lists Poland as key to new data center locations
The European Commission’s proposed Cloud and AI Development Act (CADA) and its new roadmap for digitization and AI in the energy sector show that data centers have become a strategic EU priority. The EU aims to triple data center computing capacity within 5–7 years and meet cloud and AI demand by 2035.
The Polish Data Center Association sees this as a major opportunity, as Poland has been identified as a key market for new digital investment beyond traditional hubs such as Frankfurt, London, Amsterdam, Paris, and Dublin. CADA would create Data Center Acceleration Zones, streamline permitting, limit approval processes to 12 months, support strategic projects with EU funding, and prioritize mature grid-connection projects. It also introduces stricter energy- and water-efficiency standards.
