Marta Kightley, the Vice President of the National Bank of Poland, stated that maintaining current anti-inflation shields for energy would reduce average inflation from 5.6% to 4.3%. However, even without changes, inflation is expected to rise in the first quarter of 2025. Energy price hikes could increase inflation by 1.3 percentage points annually. Kightley noted that decisions on monetary policy will depend on inflation projections and economic activity. Despite high wage growth, which has fueled service price inflation, she stated that inflation will only decrease after 2025.
The NBP anticipates meeting its inflation target by 2026, with uncertainty surrounding future wage growth and economic recovery.
