Minister Motyka for CIS: Poland’s energy security is safe
Rising tensions around Iran have revived concerns about Europe’s energy security and potential fuel price increases. In an interview with WNP, Energy Minister Miłosz Motyka said Poland does not currently see any threat to its energy security and that oil and gas supplies remain stable. He stressed that Poland has diversified its imports, sourcing oil from countries such as Saudi Arabia, Norway, the UK, the US and Nigeria under long-term contracts. Gas supplies are also secure, and any shortfall, for example from Qatar, could be covered on the spot market.
Although physical supplies are safe, global oil prices may come under pressure. Poland maintains strategic reserves exceeding the EU minimum, covering more than 93 days of demand, and continues to monitor the situation closely.
