Highest EU election turnout in history

With 43 percent of all eligible voters casting their ballots, Poland recorded its highest election turnout to the EU parliament in its 15 years of EU membership last Sunday. According to exit polls, Law and Justice (PiS) received 42.4 percent of all votes, European Coalition, comprising Civic Platform (PO) and Polish People’s Party (PSL) got 39.1 percent, while Wiosna and Konfederacja won 6.6 percent and 6.1 percent of votes, respectively.
In 2014, the turnout came in at 23.83 percent, in 2009 – at 24.53 percent, and in 2004 – at 20.90 percent.
