LOT to modernize fleet

LOT Polish Airlines will receive its first Airbus A220-300 in mid-2027, CEO Michał Fijoł confirmed. The order, signed at the Paris Air Show, covers 40 jets worth $9 billion, with deliveries through 2031 and an option for 44 more. It is the carrier’s first Airbus purchase, marking a shift from its current Embraer-dominated regional fleet.
Deputy Infrastructure Minister Maciej Lasek called it the largest contract in LOT’s history and a strategic step for Polish aviation, noting Poland’s 14% passenger growth compared to the EU average of 3–3.5%. The new aircraft, powered by Pratt & Whitney engines, will replace LOT’s 47 Embraers between 2027–29, streamlining operations and cutting fuel use by 25%.
Airbus VP Benoit de Saint-Exupéry said the A220 would be key to LOT’s network expansion. Meanwhile, Poland’s planned Central Transport Hub and Chopin Airport upgrades aim to strengthen the airline’s regional dominance.
