Poland to Review EC Proposal on 2040 Climate Target
Deputy Minister of Climate and Environment Urszula Zielińska announced that Poland will consult its position on the European Commission's proposal for a new climate target by 2040 within a few weeks. The EC recommends reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the EU by 90% by 2040. Zielińska emphasized Poland's commitment to previous goals but highlighted limited room for further reductions. The proposal will undergo analysis and public consultation. Poland aims to negotiate support for climate policies and energy poverty alleviation. Discussions on an intermediate reduction target are expected during Poland's EU presidency in 2025.
