More and more Poles convinced owing a car unnecessary

According to a June 2025 report by Santander Consumer Multirent, 88% of Polish households own a car, mostly bought with cash or credit. Despite this, only 1% currently use long-term or short-term rental, but 23% of Poles believe rentals will dominate car use in 10–15 years. Carsharing is seen as the future by 13%, while 40% still expect private ownership to prevail. Leasing is also rising, now accounting for over 30% of new vehicle registrations.
Public transport is especially popular among younger adults and city residents, with 44% of women preferring it versus 25% of men. The study reflects changing attitudes toward mobility and vehicle ownership in Poland.
