The latest "Student's Wallet" report reveals that the average monthly expenses of students in Poland have surged, nearing PLN 4,000. This includes daily expenses, accommodation, and tuition fees, with a case study focusing on a part-time economics student from Wrocław.
"In 2016, when we first conducted this simulation, monthly expenses were just over PLN 1,500. The increase is significant. This rise is due to inflation and the pandemic's impact over the past few years," Michał Polak, Vice President of the Warsaw Institute of Banking Foundation, said.
Polak also highlighted that more than 40 percent of students work to supplement their budget. The increase in the minimum wage helps to offset some of these growing costs, making it easier for students to manage their daily expenses.
