AI in real estate market worries some marketing experts

Artificial intelligence is increasingly used in real estate for updating listings, organizing data, writing descriptions, and enhancing property images. However, experts warn that excessive AI photo editing can blur the line between marketing and deception. Some sellers and agents heavily alter photos—visually enlarging spaces, changing layouts, adding windows, or “repainting” interiors—so that properties appear drastically different in person. This can lead to buyer disappointment, canceled deals, and loss of trust. While light staging or wide-angle photography is acceptable, fabricating features that don’t exist, like a kitchen island or larger windows, is misleading.
Experts suggest possible future legal regulations to prevent deceptive AI use in property marketing, protecting buyers and renters.
