Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz, MP of Civic Platform, former Interior Minister stressed on TVN24 that the presidential election should be postponed.
The first round of presidential election is scheduled for May 10, while the second round for May 24.
“Everything indicates that the virus will be with us in May. Some thousands of electoral commissions would operate in an abnormal situation, and we pretend that everything is all right,” Sienkiewicz stressed.
He noted that the French made this mistake. The first phase of local government elections took place against various reservations, but the second part could not be done and was canceled.
“In the current legal order, there are no reasons to postpone the presidential election,” Michał Dworczyk, the head of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, said.
However, he did not rule out that if the situation in the context of the current coronavirus epidemic changes, this date may change.
