Polish President Proposes Cross-Party Security Pact

During celebrations of Polish Armed Forces Day, President Karol Nawrocki stressed that national security must remain above electoral campaigns and political disputes. He proposed to the Prime Minister the signing of a special agreement on military modernization and a cross-party commitment to a unified defense policy.
“Every year on August 15, the spirit of victory is reborn in us, the spirit of a nation ready to fight for its most important values,” Nawrocki said, recalling the 1920 Battle of Warsaw, which halted the Bolshevik advance into Western Europe.
The president declared he would work to make the Polish Army the strongest NATO force in Europe. “Defending independence is our foremost duty. We must invest in modernization and grow the number of soldiers,” he stated.
Nawrocki added that Russia is not invincible, pointing to its setbacks in Ukraine. He emphasized that Poland should remain a cornerstone of allied support.
Armed Forces Day, reinstated in 1992, commemorates Poland’s victory in the 1920 battle, which safeguarded independence and shaped Europe’s security.
